Filial Play Coaching

Strengthen the parent-child bond through play, fostering trust, understanding, and emotional resilience for lasting family connections.

Filial Play is a specialized coaching program where parents learn non-directive, play-based techniques to strengthen their bond with their children and teens. What sets filial play apart is its focus on full attunement—coaching parents to be fully present and non-directive, allowing their child to lead the play. This approach builds trust, understanding, and emotional resilience, creating a deeper, more meaningful connection.

A cornerstone of Filial Play is attunement, which teaches parents how to be fully present and responsive to their child’s emotional and behavioral cues. By stepping back from directing the play, parents allow the child to take control, exploring their feelings and experiences in their own way. This approach helps children feel deeply understood and valued, which is critical for building trust and emotional resilience.

Filial Play is not limited to young children; it can be adapted for teenagers, offering a platform to navigate more complex emotions and challenges. Parents learn to recognize and support their child’s unique emotional needs while fostering independence and self-confidence.

Benefits of Filial Play Therapy include:

  • Strengthened parent-child relationships through increased trust and understanding.
  • Improved emotional regulation and communication for children and teens.
  • A deeper sense of connection and empathy within the family.
  • Practical tools for parents to handle challenging behaviors or emotional struggles.

This coaching program not only enhances family dynamics but also creates a nurturing foundation for lifelong emotional well-being.

This program is coaching ONE parent at a time.

Why one parent at a time? Because it’s all about that one-on-one connection. It’s easier to focus on building a deep bond with one parent and one child—no distractions, no double-duty. My job here is to make it truly special for both of you.

The 12-session Journey

Why do we need 12 sessions?

Because transformation takes time! This isn’t a one-time thing. We’ll be meeting once a week for 12 weeks to build a steady, lasting connection. Less than that, and the progress wouldn’t stick.

What Do We Do? Play & Skills!

We will rediscover your playful side in a way you may not have done since childhood. I’ll guide you through four Filial Play skills—techniques that play therapists use to build deep connections with kids. Then, you’ll practice them with your child, with real-time feedback to help you master it!

Why Do I Need a Coach though?

Wondering why you need a coach to play with your own kid? It’s tougher than it seems to be fully non-directive! It takes patience, practice, and lots of support. That’s where I come in—to guide and support you through the process.
